Compare and contrast the two!
Mike Meakin sent this picture with the following description.
An interesting special competing at VSCC Prescott Hillclimb this August (2007) was J.Maeers’ 1930 Morgan Aero, using a 1928 1,312 cc Vee twin engine – cryptically inscribed “RIP”. I’m not sure whether it’s a JAP or a Matchless engine, but whichever, it’s air-cooled.
The car is unusual in that it has an aeroplane fabric cover over a slim, wooden strut frame, significantly lower than the standard bodywork profile. Rear wheel drive, as normal, but to two, braked rear wheels –without (I suspect) a differential, so very much a “live axle”.
The static photo is clear enough, but I was only able to capture a fleeting image of the car in action. With a time of 49 seconds for the hill it was some 2 seconds faster that Bugattis in the same Class! As you can see, the driver sits “on it” more than in.
The picture was too fuzzy so I didn't include it - Editor
